Building / Identifying your own grounding philosophies:
My “Intuition to Action” Series on the Mind exploration. - Workbook #2 [All of my workbooks are prepared by me from my own experience and mental notes shared with you]
Expanding on the analogy of the power outage to how our mind functions during dark times or even down times from time to time… An overview - Audio post for the Series]
The ides is to build our mental tools and engineer them to our style, personality etc., (any elements that make you unique in your own definition)
Premise:
Regardless of our personalities, we each have a driving or a grounding set of philosophies we use at the most needful times of our lives. This may not be very consciously done but this is a method our mind follows to help ourselves build a perspective to alleviate from the painful moment.
Check if the above rings true - It’s a self exercise to see if you’d be able to relate to the idea.
Next…
Action:
Identify or discover or build (however you’d frame it) the grounding philosophies. And why and how they play a critical role.
Here’s why and how:
When we are hit with a painful moment, we invoke depth within involuntarily or seek a deeper meaning in the pain than our normal routine. Depending on the intensity of the dark or down moment, it’s possible that we unknowingly shut down from the external world and even to the closest ones. It’s likely we want to know what’s causing that pain before we share it with others.
During such moments, our mind needs a high energy / higher frequency thought, which is generally assisted with ground truths / philosophical dose that we are attuned to.
The paradoxical state is, when we are down, it’s harder to build a philosophical dose or seek the right one because we have chosen to shut down from additional input. This is why we need our own set as a toolset when we are in normal functioning mode. “Make hay while it shines” type of mental preparation.
Illustrative examples: [These are some of mine, and they are shared to only illustrate; not a suggestion to model yours against. The list is neither exhaustive nor ordered. A random set as it occurred to my mind now]
- “Everything happens for a reason” - My mind has a pre-prepared annotation for what this does when I hear it opportunely. When I struggle to understand the “why” of a situation (it doesn't have to be directly related to me all the time, even public tragedies hit us significantly spiritually and there are several for me in that zone), I use this note. I may not know the reason immediately but I need to act with a positive way from the current situation.
- “Not all days are made equal” - There's a psychological time that's different from the chronological time. And most often they don't match. Some happier days feel shorter than the normal or sad ones that can explain it. And some days are exceptionally deep on the psychological time, meaning, the day moves and feels like a year, no exaggeration. Be glad if you have not encountered such days. :)
- “This too shall pass.” - A more common one but helps when you use it opportunely. It has high energy coded in it.
- “Life is like a moving river, it’s in dynamic motion. The energy shifts to a better place” - faily straightforward for philosophical and spiritual thinkers.
- “A bright future is possible for me only when today is lived like how it is”. - This is my custom tool. The critical argument I serve to support this idea is, if I live like today doesn’t exist in my life, will tomorrow be any better? OR if I stretch and do a small change in my today or even a simple thought moved to a different place, will my tomorrow be more promising? When I reason, critically review and reflect, it helps me with some truths of life that serve as the tools.
- “No one can know you better than you can know about yourself” - another custom tool, to me it’s far more logical than otherwise. "Know thyself" / "Build a strong bond with yourself first"
DIY workbook for you:
- What are your grounding philosophies?
- What is your annotation, reasoning / possible scenarios you are using them as and when life hits you?
- Can you relate to this and make it a more conscious exercise and see if you are better off?
Hope you find them helpful for. yourself! I'd be glad if it does. Thank you!
My interest for volunteering:
In the spirit of my quest to natural intelligence and mind exploration for #mentalhealth, I’ve been drawn to an idea of volunteering to speak / share my views at any charitable organizations or NGOs or benevolent organizations for underprivileged people who may be seeking guidance or additional perspectives. (I’ve made an elaborate one on X app with my WHY, as it interests you - click here.
If you know of anything, kindly share with me and I'd be grateful for. you. Thank you!
